Only reason they'd have to is if the Entei they need to seek turns out to be a Paradox Pokemon.

You didn't answer my question. But I do think it's possible that historians may have mistaken Gouging Fire for Entei.

It WOULD be a way to keep the plot on track. They could get two Flying-types with one Rock-type move.

We already have some Explorers going undercover, so may as well have some other stuff from the main plot while we're at it!

Eh I think this is fitting as a break from the heroes. They are here for Terapagos anyways, rather than trying to find one of them.
the first three took two arc things, aka one year.
A one arc break, half a year.
Then the other half of the heroes, one more year. 2 and a half.
Then another arc for Rakua, another half a year. 3 years.

We would be in April-ish of 2026 if my math is right, so just need a filler arc untill gen 10 and that anime. (This is all assuming gen 10 is on the 30th anniversary). Maybe it could be before the Rakua arc instead? Need an excuse to not go right away though.

Edit: Also lines up episode count wise with the other more recent series.

I asked if you think just the ancient Paradox Pokemon will appear, or if the future Paradox Pokemon will appear alongside them.

If time travel is involved, there's no reason why both Past and Future Paradox Pokemon couldn't appear. It's time travel.

The Past/Future division in the games was a blatant sales tactic to push people to buy more games by introducing version exclusives like they always do, but realistically, if there's a time machine, there's no reason why it couldn't bring over Pokemon from both past and future timelines. Unlike the games, the anime has no reason to restrict itself to just using future or past Paradox mons.

The funny part is, they don't even need Sada/Turo or a time machine exactly.

The ending of DLC2 has

That has the problem of it being implied that it doesn't last long, but they can easily retcon that feature.

Heck they have already seemingly changed how it worked somewhat. No way thats not what all the Lucius scenes whenever they get one of the Heroes is meant to be a reference to. Even has the same fog.
